Why ads are devastating to the sites I read
Ars has a post where they explain why adblockers can kill them as a giant tech-news site. On one hand I can see why they’re reacting to this, on the one simple fact that they don’t get the necessary cash to get servers and things going. They obviously love their site and what they’re doing, and to continue to deliver content to those who don’t subscribe, they need ads to go around.
Which is totally cool with me.
Seriously, it’s cool - if only the ads weren’t flash ads that burn people’s eyes:

Text or image stills as ads would be no problem. But when you use an ad company that forces flash ads on your site, if I were you I’d reconsider any options that might be available to you.
Because when I hear the fan on my macbook increase to 6200 RPM because there’s flash content somewhere on the site (and I’m not on a site with the intention of watching a movie clip or playing a flashgame), I couldn’t be a more happy AdBlock user.
Some might question my rant and think I’m totally ignorant with how a site gets its money to drift a server and pay for good uptime. To clarify, I know that shit cost cash.
Just please don’t forcefuck my eyes with flash ads. Because I hate them so badly. Others probably do as well.
…still love you, tho’ , Arst! ;D
